An Adolescent in a Metropolis: Looking for Questions and Answers

We invite specialists in education, health, social protection, representatives of public organizations and volunteer associations, psychologists and psychotherapists and other participants, researchers and practitioners interested in the field of adolescence to participate.

At this conference, we are going to focus on the discussion of development, growing up and emerging problems and ways to solve them in adolescence and youth in the current social reality:

● To consider and revise the current experience of socio-psychological support for adolescents, families, educational systems in conditions of forced resettlement, changes in possible professional trajectories during the youth, integration and socialization in new communities.

● To present socio-psychological technologies and professional tools, which have demonstrated their effectiveness in the context of social challenges, work with crises and uncertainty, stress in the family, at university, and at school.

● To discuss the various aspects of mental health, share the practices of psychological support, psychotherapeutic and mental health care, as well as prevention of addictions, risky sexual behavior, bullying and violence in various forms, and auto-aggressive behavior.

● To analyze possible changes in the field of risky behavior and emerging opportunities for socio-psychological assistance to an adolescent in modern social contexts, at NGOs and in the education system.

The conference is aimed at expanding the ideas about the features of modern adolescence and youth, supporting an interdisciplinary approach to study the modern situation of an adolescent in a metropolis and sharing research results and practices of socio-psychological work with adolescents and youth in a situation of uncertainty and stress. The working languages of the conference are Russian and English.

The main areas of the conference:

  1. Psychology of health preservation in adolescence in the context of the discussion of integration programs and humanistic position in a socially polarized society
  2. Approaches, technologies and programs of psychological help for adolescents with various forms of antisocial risk behavior and prevention of aggressive, suicidal, deviant, risky behavior, including in the context of bullying, addictive behavior, etc.
  3. New, relevant and evidence-based tools for social and psychological help, counseling and psychotherapeutic help, to adolescents and families in the context of hostilities, internally displaced persons, and with the consequences of acute trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder
  4. Studies on views on cognitive, emotional, social development of adolescents and youth
  5. The difficulties of the modern family, reflected in the results of research and psychotherapeutic practice, socio-psychological work with parents of adolescents and youth
  6. Digitalization, transition to online, digital socialization and gadgets: their role and features of the development of an adolescent in modern conditions
  7. The impact of the pandemic and its effects on the adolescents’ growing up, development of online education, changes in social norms, socialization, changes in the possibilities of professional orientation

8. An adolescent, a teacher, a psychologist in the context of inequality in the education system: socio-psychological support at school, university, new opportunities and restrictions

Within the framework of the conference, a peer-reviewed thematic issue of the journal Psychological Research (HAC) will be prepared entitled “An Adolescent in a Metropolis: Looking for Questions and Answers”. Fee

The fee for participation in the conference is 2000 rubles, which must be transferred when filling out the registration form. Students and employees of RANEPA, MGPPU, HSE, MGPPU, MGIMO, MIPT, MGMSU, Perm University, NP SRDP Perekrestok Plus and invited speakers can be exempted from paying the contribution.

Important dates

Applications for speeches with reports and workshops and articles for publication are accepted until March 15, 2023.

After consideration of applications by the program committee, the organizers will contact you no later than March 25, 2023.

Applications for participation as a listener are accepted until March 31, 2023.

Paper Requirements for Publication in Conference Materials Collection

Please comply with the following requirements when preparing the article.

The volume is not more than 4 pages (12 pins, 1.5 interval, width alignment, Times New Roman font, 2 cm fields on all sides, absolute indentation — 1.25). The name is indicated bold in the center in uppercase letters; line below, in the center — initials, surname (s) of the author (s), academic degree, academic title; line below — the name of the organization in full. The following are annotations (not more than 400 characters) and keywords (not more than 10) in Russian. Next, after 1 indent, the text of theses is given, without tables and figures. References to the literature are given in parentheses: (Ivanov, 2018). The reference list should include no more than 5 sources.

The organizing committee reserves the right to reject articles for publication in case of inconsistency with their conference issues, violation of the requirements for registration and deadlines for submission.

The collection of theses will be posted in the scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.RU and included in the Russian Index of Scientific Citation (RSCI).

Workshop Announcement Requirements

The announcement should include the name of the workshop, the name, patronymic and surname of the presenter (or presenters) and the place of their work, a description of the workshop’s goals, the tools used and the expected results, as well as the approach on which the presenters rely. It is important to indicate the wishes for the equipment of the audience (the need for a projector, flip chart, board, A-1 papers, felt-tip terminals, etc.) and restrictions on the number of participants, if any.
